Technical Education and Skills Development Authority or TESDA have, for years, been producing talented individuals in many technical and vocational skills including cosmetology, bartending, housekeeping, automotive, culinary, and many more. In the accomplishment report covering January to October 2015, the number of the Technical Vocational Education and Training sector has total enrollees of 1,645,418 trainees in which 1,502,656 finished their respective courses and graduated. Accompanying assessment data showed that a total of 1,097,909 have taken the skills assessment, of which 1,003,928 have been certified. In the annual tracer of the employment conducted by TESDA, it has shown that 6 out of 10 graduates get employed within 6 to 12 months of completing their programs.
As of the moment, the Philippine Statistics Authority or PSA has recorded 93.4 percent employment rate by January 2015. More than half of the working population or 54.4% are in the service sector or fields similar to the courses offered by TESDA. This data shows how relevant rare the program offered by TESDA in increasing the employment rate of Filipinos. In an study conducted by Forbes in 2014, it shows that Technical knowledge related to the job is one of the key factor that employer looks for for a technical employee—a factor that TESDA can provide to anyone who is enrolled to their program.
Luckily, for those who want to learn vocational and technical skills and get certified can easily enroll for a program in TESDA in few easy steps.
Step 1. Visit any nearest TESDA Accredited Assessment Center or TESDA Regional Training Center.
Step 2. Make sure to bring the following documents for the process of assessment:
- Filled-up Assessment Application Form
- Filled-up Assessment Guide of your chosen Training program. (Make sure that there are no erasure and a black pen was used)
- 3 pieces Passport size I.D. with white back ground. See to it that a collared shirt was use. (Indicate your name and signature at the back of the Photo)
Step 3. Pay for the assess fee in the registrar’s office to be able to avail the admission slip and official receipt required for the National Certification examination.
Step 4. Prepare the requirements at the date of the assessment. The venues of the assessment will depend on the course assessor.
Step 5. The assessment will depend on the program you are enrolling for. Get ready to take a written exam and an actual exam. Assessor will gauge your performance base on your overall competencies in the exam.
Step 6. TESDA certification/assessment passers have to apply for certification in which additional requirement may be requested depending from the Training Institute that you are taking.
Step 7. Remember that the National Certificate can be claimed after 7 days of application.
