Mumu Demonstration    


Mumu demonstration is also known as the Traditional Stone Cooking demonstration.


Mumu is an earth oven that works by heating stones. These stones are afterward put or arranged arounf on the food, covered with banana leaves, securely, to prevent steam to escape during the process of cooking.


The food usually consists of yams, bananas, sweet potatoes, chicken or pork and taro. These are mixed together and placed inside freshly cut leaves from banana trees. The leaves are wrapped tightly and securely so that no air can leak out. Coconut oil is poured into the package, before sealing it, to flavor the ingredients. The package is then placed on the pile of hot rocks and covered with additional rocks and coconut husks.
