9 Types of Home Healthcare Services

Healthcare in the Philippines has undergone noticeable changes in the last 20 years. Today, most hospitals provide efficient and affordable health services. This is thanks to the government and health professionals who instituted various reforms and policies to provide easy access to health benefits for every Filipino.

Talk about easy access, medical providers and practitioners in the Philippines are more than committed to their oath in treating the ill to the best of their ability. Thus, health professionals made way to home health care services. Home healthcare services in the Philippines focus on giving you the care you need in the place you love–home. The type of service depends on the individual patient's situation. This can range from nursing care to specialized medical services. It may include managing medications, creating personalized balance programs, and arranging care plans. At-home services are the following:

1. Doctor Care – You can have a doctor look after you with the comfort of your home. A doctor may visit you at home to diagnose and treat illnesses. He or she may also periodically review the home health care needs of an individual. Plus, you can lessen your expenses by not needing a hospital room.

2. Nursing Care – With the consultation of a doctor, a registered nurse will set up a care plan for the patient. Nursing care may include wound dressing, administering medication, monitoring the general health of the patient, pain control, and therapy.

3. Home Therapy – Some patients need help on relearning how to perform daily duties or improve their speech after an illness or injury. There are three kinds of home therapy:

  • Physical Therapy – A physical therapist helps a patient regain or strengthen the use of muscles and joints.
  • Occupational Therapy – An occupational therapist can help a patient with physical, developmental, social, or emotional disabilities. The therapist can offer help in relearning how to perform daily functions such as eating, bathing, and dressing.
  • Speech Therapy – A speech therapist can help a patient with impaired speech to regain the ability to communicate clearly.

4. Medical Social Services – Medical social workers can provide counseling and locating community resources to help the patient in his or her recovery. They can also be the patient's case manager–if the patient's medical condition requires coordination of many services.

5. Companionship – Patients who are home alone may ask a companion to provide comfort and supervision. This service involves basic aid with the supervision of a nurse. A companion can:

  • Attend basic personal needs such as getting out of bed, walking, bathing, and dressing.
  • Help with chores or tasks such as meal preparation, laundry, and grocery shopping.
  • Provide basic comfort to the patient through companionship, helping with personal care, providing transportation, emotional support, and managing paperwork.

6. Nutritional Support - Dietitians can come to a patient's home to assess and guide his or her food intake. Nutritional support also covers the provision of nutrients via a tube placed into the stomach or small intestine, or intravenously for patients who are unable to eat enough when provided a normal diet.

7. Laboratory Tests - Certain laboratory tests, such as blood and urine tests, can be performed in the comfort of the patient's home. Health professionals may collect samples from you at your house. Next, the gathered samples will be studied in laboratories, then the results would be delivered to you.

8. Pharmaceutical Services – Home healthcare services in the Philippines also offer delivery of medicine and medical devices. Training can also be provided to the patient and companion on how to take medicines or use devices.

Those are the home healthcare services offered in the Philippines. Indeed, the government and health professionals are doing their best to help people gain wellness even without going out of their houses—a proof that the healthcare system in the Philippines is continuously improving in providing quality healthcare for every individual.

5 Ways to Encourage Your Kids to Wear Glasses

http://eyesitetexas.com/ Finding the correct and comfortable eyeglass frames for your kid might be the least of your problems if they won’t even try to wear it. Unlike shirts and pants, glasses are very imposing and need a lot of getting used to being literally right in front of your face. But instead of nagging them to keep on wearing their glasses or else they’ll go blind, encourage them instead so that they’d want to wear glasses on their own accord. Make Them Choose Their Own Frames Not only does your kid get to choose actual eyeglass frames he wants to wear, you are also letting him exercise his independence. In letting him choose on his own, and letting him reason out the decision for himself, he will be more likely to wear his glasses to compound on this independence. Remind But Don’t Nag There will be instances where you see your kid not wearing their glasses—do not rage on them. They might have forgotten without intention or tried to not put them on but either w...
